Baggy Pants

Can anyone tell me what the appeal is in wearing your pants almost down to your knees with your underwear showing in the back? This style originated in prison so that the other prisoners who would know who was homosexual or not. I wonder if all these baggy pants wearers realize where this trend actually came from.

Too bad some people follow this trend nowadays. I see most guys show their underwear underneath their loose baggy pants without wearing any t-shirt. I have no idea who passed this fashion statement to the youth.

I find people wearing those kind of pants disgusting. They look irresponsible, immature and improperly groomed to me. As if people would like to know what kind of underwear they have.

Well it's usually the singers and boy bands that start any sort of trend. I think this fashion has run it's course anyway now as you don't see many low slung pants around nowadays, at least not here in the UK.

I have no issues with baggy pants, as long as you wear them proper (which many do not). I have a great pant of KIK Girl pants (raver style) that are hella comfy.

Its not always about being in style for me, its about being comfy and I have no issues looking "irresponsible" or "immature" - to each their own. I can still hold my weight in a debate when needed, and walking into a place of business I can still act like an "adult" in baggy pants. I find it funny you assume all people are like those who end up low riding though, whats that say about you?

Are you sure? Somehow, I don't think that would be something inmates would advertise.

Personally, I used to wear baggy pants in high school. I wouldn't say they were down to my knees, in fact they were never under my bum, but the waistband of my boxers (yes; I was a girl who wore boxers) would show because the pants would hang on my hips. It was comfortable, and considered "stylish" at my school, and I never got much guff for it.

I just like to be comfy and there is nothing wrong with it, pending you have the backside to fill them out. When you have no backside, thats when it kind of looks a little funny.

I've never heard that baggy pants came from prison. It sounds a bit too out there for me.
I personally hate the look- I told my daughter to never bring a boy home that she is dating if his pants are hanging low!

I don't think it is attractive but then again, as long as they are keeping their "areas" covered then I guess it might be okay to allow them to express themselves. I mean if they want to appear to be a slob then let them lol.
