Lightbulb Fashionable at 50

How do you define or describe a fashionable 50-year old woman?

I really don't know. Just wearing plain clothes is fine, not much jewelries and makeup is ok too, thats' my opinion anyway.

I think it would probably involve classic styles rather than current trends.

I think it would also depend on how comfortable she was with what she was wearing and with herself in general.

I would always be concerned about ending up with the 'mutton dressed as lamb' syndrome. I think an older woman can still stay on trend with high street fashions, but need to find a more stylish look.

Driven by the movement of the times, they often use trendy clothing too albeit having similarities to old school. I like old women dress properly with new clothing but not that much as I stated in my last post.

I agree with Ricardo - the word that comes to my mind is "classic style." I love it when I see ladies in their 50's or older who know exactly what suites them, and what goes with what; they look stylish even if they don't follow the current trend.

I think fashionable at 50 would be defined as one wearing the clothing that suit them and not trying to appear as though they are in their 20s or 30s. For instance, I just can't picture a 50 year old with mini-skirts and halter tops revealing her belly button.

I'm gonna agree with the "classic style" as well. People of all ages can follow current fashion trends, and the preppy-ish classic style never really goes out of style. What bothers me is ladies that wear too much make-up (at any age) and dress like their teen kids when they known darn well they shouldn't be wearing things like that.

I like to see an older woman just looking confident and happy within herself.

I hope to be a classic and stylish older woman. many of the older Spanish ladies dress wonderfully, particularly on a Sunday when I walk past the outdoor church.

I find myself looking at the women and telling myself that I want to dress like them when I get to my older years.

I'm in the early 50's and would like to dress in the more classic line, but they don't carry such clothes in some malls. There are not much choices around.
