Best Antivirus for 2010?

Which antivirus software (free or paid) provides the best protection nowadays? It's hard to find good information online because a lot of it seems to be outdated. A product that worked well in February of 2009 doesn't necessarily cut the mustard in August of 2010.

The one that I use and that has had rave reviews from everyone (surprisingly) is the free Microsoft Essentials. It uses few resources compared to the free AVG I was using and needs almost no user input.

AVG is still the one I hear about more than anything else. I will agree that the new Microsoft Essentials seems to be creating buzz too.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I think I'm going to give Microsoft Essentials a try. Somehow, I'd never heard of it before now! Is it safe to assume that I can find it online by Googling for it?
