Do you think it is possible to actually be sexual partners, and just remain "friends," for a period of time? I feel like one or both people will eventually fall for the other, and either cause pain or a relationship. But what if two determined people actually met? Is it possible?

Yes it's possible but it depends on both parties. They should have a complete understanding of what "friends with benefits" is all about - it is about friends that share sexual relationship with each other but with no strings attached.

That seems to be complicated. I can't imagine how that would be because I consider sex as a sacred act between two people who are committed to each other.

I can't see sex that way because I'm aware of the large number of people having casual, commitment-free, and even anonymous sex (as in one night stands), but something about the idea of having more than just one night of sex together, and making a "friendship" based on it, makes me think it will eventually just turn into a relationship or end with someone hurt.
