When you have been dating online for a year, is it okay to have sex on the first time that you meet in the physical world or is it more prudent to wait awhile?

I think it would be more prudent to get to know each other more in the physical world. It is not what it seems in the virtual world, but as crammer said, it depends on your age, values and beliefs.

I am extremely traditional so I think people are wise to wait until after they're married. There are a number of reasons for this, not the least of which is the fact that there are way too many babies out there in single parent homes, or worse.

I think that you shouldn't "expect" to sleep or not sleep with someone upon your first meeting...rather, go ahead and meet them first, get to know them, and see whether both of you still feel the same chemistry which you seem to be feeling online.

Play it by ear. You need these things to be spontaneous in any case so you shouldn't plan too much. It's the same whether you meet on line or off. You have to get to know each other and do what comes naturally!

I really think it would be prudent to wait. Meeting someone online doesn't necessarily allow you to know everything about them. I know many who can chat up girls quite well but are really poor excuses for men. My wife was hurt emotionally by one like this. Thank goodness they didn't have children.

I think it's a personal choice. When you meet in person you might not have any connection at all. You can really dig someone on the internet and not in person. Have you spoken on the phone too?

I have dated someone online but on the first meeting we didn't sleep together. Our relationship was more on respect and the guy was a gentleman. Other couple have sex on first meeting after getting to know each other online and I think that's another word for 'online bootycall'.
