EZines

Has anyone had any success with eZines? I love to write short stories, and a friend of mine is a great artist. I was thinking of starting a zine with an illustrated short story every two weeks or so, and maybe selling advertising space on it or something like that. I'm not sure, but does it sound like a good idea? What should I know?

If you have a following, E-zines can be very popular and successful. I know of some out there in fandom for various TV shows that publish regularly, though not as often as you suggested.

Maybe you should start with some article submission in online websites to get some following, before you start your own e-zine.

Thanks mamabear, that is a good suggestion. I know that I would have to build more of a following than just my family and friends; as nice and fun as that kind of project would be, I know it wouldn't be very profitable.

Have you thought about just setting up a blog for friends and family to follow in addition to submitting articles to other sites? You could use something like WordPress to get yourself going.

I've had blogs before, and my friends and family love them. I've drifted away from them as different career goals have taken over my life, and I'd prefer something that would make me a little more money than blogs have to offer.
