Default I'm Gonna Be A Midwife.....

..... or a Midhusband? Anyway, I have worked on an OB/GYN floor for years after I left nursing school. (Yeah, I know, weird for a guy) Now I'm going to a school of midwifery and will be a midwife in less than a year. I've already completed a lot of my course work and now on to the practicum. I really enjoy helping women through the birthing process. My wife has had four children with my assistance as nurse and she is thrilled that I'm going to be a midwife.

I don't think it's strange. I'm a male nurse too, but I work in ICU. Our little hospital just has one unit so we see everything. The big, big stuff we usually transport on. I thought about going into med school and specializing in OB/Gyn. It's pretty neat to see that new little human come into the world.

I think that's wonderful! I know a lot of women who have male ob-gyns and they would never see a woman instead. I bet they'd be interested in a male midwife.

I sure hope so. I really love delivering babies. There is a lot of things that can go wrong but when it's right, it's a joy! It seems there is a celebration at every birth even if the baby wasn't wanted at first. Those little ones are precious.

Good on you mate! I think it's fantastic! I wouldn't mind my wife having a baby with a male midwife in charge. It's not really that strange. Think of all of the years doctors were JUST men. Now there are men and women. Everyone has their own preference and I bet a lot of women would prefer a bloke to deliver their child.
