Packing for Vacation

With a small child, and going to a vacation area that is remote with no specially laid on kiddie activities but rather the wealth and beauty of mother nature-what would you take with you?

Is this a camping trip or are you staying in cabins. What I would take with me would be based of that. Of course don't forget the sunscreen and bug spray and maybe a life jacket and swim suits.

I would take along some books, paper and crayons and at least one of their very favorite toys. You will likely be outside enjoying nature much of the time but if you get stuck inside with bad weather, you need something for the little one to do. I would also take a good first aid kit, with bandaids and antibacterial ointment as well as creams for bug bites and poison ivy/oak.

I'd just make sure you have absolutely everything you need for the child. You can survive on nearly nothing, but your children need things so make sure they are taken care of.

Everything I need would not fit in the car

We are staying in a beautiful cottage in the middle of nowhere and really have to keep the luggage down to a minimum.

If I was going to take a small child to someplace remote I would pack some books and their favorite toys. I would make use of what is around me to talk to the child about nature and our environment.
