Default Teacher Gifts

It's the last day of the school year for us today, and I saw some of the kids giving gifts to the teacher. I find it odd-very American almost. Do you do this for your kid's teacher?

I usually find a nice saying or poem online then print that on nice paper, add a picture of my daughters, and laminate it. That way the teacher can remember who gave it to them.

Well, if I remember correctly, it was forbidden to give the teachers gifts in my high school.
That could raise suspicion about bribery.
Lame, I know

Well as strongly as I felt about this, I felt so guilty when my daughter came out with a gift from each of her teachers How bad a person am I? Sigh, I hate when this happens.

I think that is such a sweet idea. I do not know why I never thought of it before. I might do that for my kids teacher. After all they are so important.

It is a tradition here in America, at least in the lower grades. When my kids were little, I used to send a box full of supplies that I had purchased throughout the year. Crayons, craft supplies, glue, things like that. Our teachers spend a lot of their own money for things like this so they really appreciate the help.

Much better than yet another mug or something like that.

We do that here in the States. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I think it's shows your respect and your thanks for working with their kids all year. I usually gave gift certificates.

Well, I've been out of school for a long time, but back in my day, we did sometimes give our teachers gifts of appreciation. Back then, no one thought anything of it.
