Default Plaster Cast Removal

I had a wrist cast removed today after six weeks imobilisation for a broken wrist. My wrist is skinny and wasted but worse-it is more painful today than the day I broke it.

How long can I expect to be in pain? I have no range of motion at all-I have physio starting soon, how quickly will that help?

It's going to take a while. With any inactivity there is wasting, or atrophy, of muscles. As far as when physio is going to work, it really depends upon your ability to heal and to work the affected arm. You can start with some protein drinks which would help with muscle tissue regrowth. Good luck!

Already it is, thankfully starting to improve. I have some movement now-not a lot, only a few degrees. The pain is lessening too, but I know I still have a lot of work to do.

Charlie, how about putting some ointments to relieve the pain. I heard that steam is can help relax the nerves of your hand. And lastly, try not to move it so often before it completely heals.
