What is Intel centrino processor? is it like celeron?

My friend bought a Laptop, i looked for the label to see whether it is a dual core processor or a core2duo processor, but it was different. It showed to be Intel centrino processor. What is that? and is it a cut down version like celeron processors?

Centrino Dual is the predecessor to the Core 2 Duo, is normally less expensive but for the lower ranges the performance is (as far as I know) comparable.
