Default Pedigree or Mutt?

Do you think it's better to get a Pedigree dog or a mutt? I've had both, and while I like the hardniess of my mutts and am proud of having rescued them from animal shelters, I usually only get compliments on the full-breed dogs I own. I also have the security of having lots of breed information and a family health history with the pedigrees. I love them all, but I really feel mutts are beautiful, too!

I love my little mutt. I was raised around purebred Border Collies, and I admired their intelligence, but I've met so many incredible rescued mutts while volunteering that I think they're probably my favorite.

I like both. I currently have a pure bred American Pitbull terrier but we have rescued dogs from the shelter before. I would love to get another dog now but we really don't have the room or the money.

I love the doggies, no matter what their pedigree. I've had pure breds and ones who were off the street. I love them all, and they've all been loving, wonderful companions.

I really like mutts when they are the right mix. However I do find there are some mixes that are not good mutts. Like a pit/chow/German Sheppard is a dog that is strong and can be quick to snap.

I do not normally like pure breeds but I have a King Charles Spaniel and he is just the most amazing dog ever. I say if you go pure breed then you have to go with the right kind.

The problem with purebred dogs is most of them have genetic problems. I would rather have a mutt and not have to worry about that. I would also worry about puppy mills when getting a pure bred dog.
