Default What software do you use

What software do you use (freeware) for designing websites? Are there many different choices with freeware or are the good ones all expensive? I am hoping to find a nice freeware product to teach some people to do simple website designs.

For simple website design, just use Frontpage or Dreamweaver... Usually it's for static website...

If you want to make dynamic website, use Content Management System (CMS). Like Joomla or Drupal... Those are free CMS software... You can find easily through Internet...

Thank you for the suggestions. I do not know much about Joomla or Drupal though I have heard a great deal about Dreamweaver and never really knew what it was all about. I am going to check into them all!

KompoZer Portable (formerly Nvu Portable) seems to be a freeware or open source type that is easy to download. It looks similar to FrontPage and Dreamweaver.

Notepad - I'm old school like that. You could always learn to write HTML/CSS by hand, and then you don't need a program to guide you along. Everybody wants a shortcut these days.

I love Wordpress and use it a lot - you don't have to only make blogs with it. It can also make creating a static site easier if your have the proper template. When I need to code it by hand, I find Kompozer pretty easy to work with and it's free.

Wow September, you must have some mad skills to use notepad! I am with Foureyes and like to use Wordpress, though I do dabble around a bit.

I am another dreamweaver fan although I think everything mentioned here is pretty good. I could never use a notepad though. I do respect someone with the ability to do so!
